Royal levee and honours at a 19th century court
Yesterday at two in the afternoon the King, with Sir Herbert Taylor, arrived in town in state, receiving an investiture of the Bath and audiences from high officers. Portraits, collars, and presents were exchanged with dignitaries including the Duke of Cumberland and numerous foreign ministers. A levee followed with many prominent guests and speeches detailing court protocol and recent promotions.
