The Case of the Church in Cobbett's Register
Excerpt from Cobbett's Register debates tithes in 1800 and the church's endurance. A critic argues state reform would destroy the church, detailing the duty of parish priests and the social integral role of tithes and residence. Also notes lighter items about Brighton Grenadier Guards, Stockport spinners, and odd news from Sydney and Bristol.
