Labour Taxes Debate in Imperial Parliament
In the Lords and Commons, petitions from Lincolnshire parishioners urge repeal of the house and window taxes, with advocates arguing the taxes burden the poor and distort trade. Speakers including Lords and Col Evans defend taxation while calling for reform, noting Ireland, West Indies, and national debt concerns, and adjournment follows.

The Speaker resumes the chair as Mr Humphrey presents a parish petition. Mr Fitzgerald-Simons reports the railway committee found compliance with standing orders and leave is given to introduce a bill extending the chief power.
