Gloucestershire Yeomanry officers promoted amid resignations

The Lord Lieutenant signed commissions for Broadwater Troop officers in the Gloucestershire Regiment of Yeomanry Cavalry. Montreal Assembly Address to Lord Gosford Debates Begin

Montreal papers publish the address to Lord Gosford after his speech to the Governor General. Fifty two members presented the address. Ransom Demand and Release of Mr Hayward on Ringdove

The clerk Mr Hayward on the Ringdove, at Portugalette, was seized by eight Carlists who demanded a ransom of eighty dollars. Captain Lapidge negotiated and paid forty dollars to secure his release after negotiations. Hayward’s captors released him, leaving him with his friends after the partial payment.
