Portugal outlines constitutional restoration after the liberal victory. In Lille a wealthy English peer Lord Egerton refused city orders to demolish the Hotel de Noailles delaying the project. Despite legal actions, doctors and a solicitor, he clung to his household routines until the magistracy backed his delay. He died in 1890 as the hotel was finally torn down in the city plans. A second note recalls Mr Robert Hunter’s 80th birthday and a milestone stone lifting at Holbeask.
