William Loveless writes from Burton near Bridport on July 12 1835 thanking the True Sun and supporters, praising Wakley for his Commons motion on behalf of Dorchester labourers, condemning government coercion, debt driven crime, and tyranny against the working class, and urging rights awareness and reform. He cites unions and trials, and appeals to fellow operatives to stay united.
An inquest at the London Hospital concerning Martha Dickson, a five year old girl, reveals a pebble lodged in her ear that could not be removed despite surgery. She died Sunday evening after prolonged suffering, with the mother requesting the stone be produced. The Coroner adjourned the inquest. New Brunswick politics note quit rents settled after a nine day session. The Crown will surrender quit rents in exchange for 1300 pounds annually designated for internal improvements.
