Letter to the editor from Thomas Arber of Hanover-square dated Aug 11 1831 disputes a newspaper report about a Westminster meeting presided by Colonel Evans M P. Public wool sale attracts broad range of global wools

Spinner and clothier crowds assembled at a public sale from eleven this morning to seven this evening. About 2,000 bags of Australian and various imported wools including German Odessa Russian Smyrna dominated the lot though Mecary’s flocks were not present. Dealers, short of stock, bought eagerly and Prioalpad shares sold at stronger prices than last sale. Further sales planned this week.

Provincial Markets notes demand remains limited with price steady as holders stay firm. Exporters have taken 300 American and 200 Surats. Liverpool Corn Exchange reports wider Irish supplies with modest Wheat activity at 6s 4d red Irish and 6s 2d middling. Oats down 4d per bushel, Oatmeal dull at 243 6d per load. Flour, Barley, Beans show minimal changes.
