JW Hammon and Co announce new flatting metals capacity for gold and silver watch cases jewelers and related trades in No 1 Gloster-street Clerkenwell and St Johns Street Road. Premises and machinery filled at immense expense. Trade invited to inspect. Neatly flattened silver offered in any quantity with moderate terms.
Medical experts urge cautious drink options this season recommending weak brandy and water over fermentable liquors. J T Blytts and Co promote their patent brandy citing purity certified by chemists, suitable for wine making, confectionery, preserved fruits, and culinary use. Distillers offer two gallons per imperial gallon at eighteen shillings, at their South Geld-bar establishment near St John Street.
On the Carlisle assize, Francis Necholl Jane Hofinsuon James Court Thos Wilkinson and Van Fawcett were indicted for breaking and entering the Wigton warehouse of Fraser and stealing a gold rug and money. Witnesses placed the crime the next day with arrests at Aspatrick Keswith Kendal and Maryport. Verdict guilty and fourteen years transportation. In Launceston Grace Tapson was tried for assaulting Jane Mason a fourteen year old apprentice. verdict Not guilty after inquest found death by apoplexy. The Mayor of Truro faced damages for false imprisonment in a separate case where two men were detained overnight in a dirty lock-up without food. Damages awarded 150. Other actions included Guscartec and Fivxtox and others with damages awarded. The murder case of Mr May was noted as ongoing with sentencing procedures adjusted.

Edward Markham a 24 year old carrier between Napton and Daventry was indicted for wounding his wife Maria Markham with intent to murder. Jealousy over an acquaintance named Turner sparked the incident on June 26 at Daventry. Markham pushed her onto a bed, slashed her throat, and pursued her to a neighbour’s home while vowing to kill her. He also cut his own throat superficially. The jury found him guilty. No sentence recorded.
In a London court, Hector, MP, sued to recover 6000 pounds for wine delivered to the Westminster Reform Club. Sir Lord Abinger ruled the defendant not liable for pre membership charges but liable for later orders after joining April 1835. Verdict for the plaintiff awards damages of 600 pounds.
In a case heard this term, a farmer defendant named Ue was found guilty of forging a conveyance of property at Bishop's Fromy in the county. Mr. Greaves and Mr. Shounen fought the prosecution, while Mr. C. Phillips defended the prisoner. The judge, Mr. Suscure Jratuison, sentenced him to transportation for life.
In London crime items, a driver faced a formal complaint for possible overcharging on a Nov ferry route between Vauxhall Gardens and Thastes Inn. Separate cases included a Haymarket theatre pocket pickpocket named Watson and a Clapham Common arson investigation involving a 16 year old, with remand ordered for further inquiry.
Seamen John Armstrong, John Wilson, Elias Murratt, and Philip Truchy of the Charles Buchan were examined by Thames magistrate Mr Broderip on allegations of stealing rum and raw Brazilian sugar from the cargo bound for Malta. Henry Beer a waterman faced magistrate Mr Ballantrone for conveying thirteen passengers in his boat beyond the seven extra allowed. The Lower Water-gate Deptford witness Thomas Black noted Beer repeatedly ferried 13 and 11 then 13 more passengers, though licensed for six. The court fined Beer one pound plus costs totaling several shillings, amid warnings of harsher penalties for future cases.
