Entries reached a record 1 544, up 104 from last year, though some sections such as thoroughbred horses and trotters declined. Clydesdale displays rose but no stallions were shown, reflecting motor tractors’ encroachment. The pavilion, decked with bunting and palm leaves, showcased numerous and high quality exhibits.
