Mining operations at the Red Gully show between Nungle and Wongamine continue to draw interest. Gold is reportedly procurable there, though no opinion on long term prospects can be given until development progresses.
The six year old Hita Proud, daughter of Mr and Mrs G A Proud of Toodyay, passed a music exam with 86 and honours. A pupil at the Convent of Mercy her merit reflects her early talent. A children's dance event was postponed after a fatal school accident. rescheduled for the 26th inst by the Parents and Citizens Association.
Saturday last the rainbow fete organised by the Anglican church authorities proved emphatically successful. The hall featured artificial rainbow decor and stalls with well worked wares reflecting the church workers' effort. Archdeacon Riley opened the event. stalls and dancing kept steady business late into the evening.
The Jarokine Tennis Club hosted a successful dance at Mum Birth Inn with attendance noted as lively. Music was provided by Misa E. Glass, Mr. Lacy and Mr. D Lawler, and several dances proved popular. In business news, Bennet now runs the local hotel while the town's forekeeper plans to leave soon.
