A reader report notes the Toodyay Race Club has been revived after years idle and will hold a race meeting on Wednesday 15 May. The note praises past Eastern District racing, names prominent figures, and urges local support to keep racing alive, citing nominations topped by seventy and leadership from secretary Jack James.
On Monday evening at the Victoria Hotel the Toodyay Cycle Club gave Messrs Tom Dorizai and Bill Leeder a small social send off with a token gift for Leeder. KD Lee noted no gift was collected for Dorizai due to late notice, a small token will follow to Kalgoorlie. Both men are active in cycling and other clubs. they left Toodyay by the x press for Kalgoorlie and Boulder respectively as they pursue employment on the field.
A grand Hospital Ball featured striking decorations in red white and blue with Chinese lanterns and electric lights. The event drew visitors from surrounding districts, offered a sumptuous sit down supper, and showcased a parade of elegant gowns from Mrs Brimstone to P. Jory and many more, while Griffen’s orchestra provided dance music.
Walter Wing aged 68 died at the Free Mason's Hotel Toodyay in the early hours of Sunday morning. A longtime hotel licensee and active community worker he supported sporting bodies and charitable causes with the R O Church. Survived by widow Ellen Theresa Wing and two children Gordon and Winifred, his funeral was held in the Roman Catholic section of Karrakatta Cemetery after a service at St Mary's Cathedral with many Toodyay residents attending.
Mothers' Union enjoyed a joyful day in York at the Country Festival with a luncheon at York Town Hall hosted by the primate who preached in the afternoon before a crowded audience. Beverly ladies served tea and the day closed with God Save the King as Stevens' orchestra played at the wee Club Dance on May.

Wednesday’s hockey game ended in a defeat for the Rangers against a well balanced Kingfishers side. Kingfishers dominated the second half while Rangers fought hard early, with J Haywood making several saves and K Leeder scoring the owl goal for Kingfishers. Final score showed Kingfishers ahead as Rangers pressed for an equaliser before time ran out. Kingfishers G Smith N Smith N Donegan and K Leeder stood out for the winners. Rangers B Paterson K Mackintosh J Haywood and E Sinclair were the best for the losers.
