Annual Meeting of the Tisdale School District

The Tisdale School District held its annual ratepayers meeting with about ten present. The meeting discussed the heating system, basements lavatories, and plans for an addition to the school premises. An expert heating opinion was approved to replace the late system, and N Nelson was elected auditor by acclamation.

Two of Triplets Die After Birth At Local Home

Two of the triplets born last week to Lo and Mrs Colvin died after birth while their family mourns. The case involves the late Friday delivery and a funeral is planned at Tisdale Cemetery with family statements pending.

Theft Charge Dismissed in Melfort Case

The theft charge against W. H. Morrow and E. A. Purdy of the Tisdale Investment and Supply Co. was dismissed after magistrate Hatton heard the case in the Orange Hall Tisdale. The dispute centered on a $100 commission from a land sale claimed for the company funds. defense argued managerial changes freed the defendants, while prosecution said the sale occurred under the firm’s real estate leadership. The magistrate found insufficient evidence to commit them for trial.

Silver Stream Grain Growers Meet Hopes for Winter Socials

The Grain Growers Association met on Thursday to approve winter social events starting February 1. They planned to secure binder twine for 1917 and appointed E B Lloyd as delegate to the Annual Grain Growers Convention at Moose Jaw February 13 to 16. A convention feature will list grain growers or their sons who have gone to the trout, with photos if possible.

An Anglican service will be held in the Schoolhouse on Sunday February 11 at 2 30 PM. All Anglicans and members of other churches are warmly welcomed.

Pte Amos of Auto Road on leave from active service will give a short address on his front experiences at the Red Cross concert in Silver Stream on Friday February 6. The talk is expected to draw a large crowd alongside a substantial program for a buoyant event.

A meeting to organize a rural telephone system for Willow Hill is being planned in the district. The date is not yet fixed as talks continue with the Regina telephone department for essential details. Indications point to eventual materialization of telephones in Willow Hill.

Pastors Change as Rev Hargreaves Preaches at Star City

Rev Hargreaves will occupy the pulpit at Star City next Sunday evening while Rev Bellingham, the regular pastor, has been called to his regiment at Prince Albert. The annual Board of Trade meeting is scheduled for Tuesday at Homer's Hall at eight o'clock. A Valentine Dance on February 14 will raise Red Cross funds. Further announcements awaited.

Col W H Laird of Regina named as senator for Saskatoon amid party opposition from T O Davis and Provincial men in Prince. The legislature’s shortest session lasted 17 minutes before adjournment. A large Jumble Sale for Red Cross funds will be held at Waterfield soon. Scorcher team invites officials to drop items at the Recorder Office for tagging.
