A centennial review on over 100 years of policing in Taber highlights past methods and key figures. Nominee Sarah Nick Nicholson is put forward for Taber citizen of the year. Election coverage notes a 17 hour work day across districts B1 to B5.
In the 2004 municipal race five incumbents won re election while one former incumbent Larry Joblonkay surged to second place with 1240 votes, trailing Randy Sparks who had 1292 votes in Rochelle.
Ray Bryant captured the mayoral seat with 905 votes, defeating incumbent Dave Duggan who trailed at 600. Harley Phillips had 292 and Reg O Meara 86 as Duggan had won the 2001 election over Phillips. Bryant praised voter turnout and felt pleased with community support.
Taber voters totalled 1 883 this year down from 2 173 in 2001. Returning officer Angie Keibel noted all four incumbent councillors were re elected. Sixty ballot counters were used across four stations and three ballot stations with about 10 workers in the auditorium during voting.
Audrey Krizsan led in Taber/Barnwell with 720 votes securing a Horizon School Division board seat in Taber. Sharon Holtman and Karla Collett won other spots while incumbents were challenged. Enchant Lomond and Warner Grassy Lake areas also filled seats with Marie Logan and Derek Baron among winners.
