Conservatives cruise to win Medicine Hat riding

Conservative LaVar Payne won Medicine Hat in the 2008 federal election, taking about 23,308 votes to 3,824 for NDP candidate Wally Regeher. Bev Botter led Liberals and Kevin Dodd led Green Party with 2,368 and 2,093 votes respectively as results rolled in. Payne aimed to push concerns on crime and seniors to caucus and meet with Prime Minister Harper to discuss plans. Sustainable focus groups shape Taber’s future design

Tania Sprong led four focus groups with developers planners water experts and officials to craft a made in Taber sustainability plan. The process emphasized community involvement and a three part framework environment economy equity with ideas like an inner city pathway five year plan and a redesigned main entrance to town plus a Taber Express transit concept.

Three New Board Members Join City Chamber of Commerce

The chamber of commerce welcomed three new board members at the annual general meeting. They were sworn in for the next term and a new vice-president appointed to lead the board.
