Taber Wind Farm Opens Largest Alberta Wind Project

ENMAX unveils the Taber Wind Farm southeast of Taber with 37 ENERCON turbines and 80 MW capacity, powering 32 000 Calgary homes under a 20 year contract. Turbines reach 121 metres, built with 16 7 kilometres of rebar per foundation, using towers from Saskatchewan and North Dakota and nacelle blades from Germany.

Fourth Annual Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off Draws Local Growers

In hot dry weather the Fourth Annual Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off at St. Mary’s drew 14 students and six adults. John Motycka won the adult division with a 263 pound pumpkin and Justin Meier topped the youth class with a 321 pound pumpkin.

Flu clinics offer free vaccine for pregnant women

This flu season all healthy pregnant women are high risk and vaccinated free. Children who are immunized receive two doses the first season. Last year high risk included pregnant women in last trimester or due during influenza season. Previously only children six to twenty three months needed two doses on first immunization.
