The 2004 budget shows residential and farmland rates at 4.9858 and non residential at 5.9858 with operating expenses of 17,214,430 and capital expenses of 9,582,537. Water costs in capital are 7,196,137 the highest item while road upkeep is the top operating expense at 6,684,903. Subdivision costs are the least in both budgets.
The M D of Taber council approved the 2004 budget and tax rates with minimal changes from 2003. Rates remain nearly identical for residential and farm taxpayers while assessments may raise some payments. Regional water project costs loom as a future challenge.
The Horizon School Division announces Boyd Davies as principal for the 2004 2005 school year at Chamberlain replacing Dave Driscoll who left for another division job. Davies brings teaching and admin experience from primary to high school including serving as Youngstown school principal since 2001.
