Show called off Cornfest ends fireworks in town park

Safety concerns and regulatory changes end the Cornfest fireworks at Confederation Park. Emergency chief Brad Mason says shifting to Ken McDonald Memorial Sports Park would allow larger displays, but moving crowds was deemed impractical. Fireworks Spectacular provider and organizers cite past injuries and a too small area as key reasons for relocation.

Fifth site proposed for new library in Taber

Taber Public Library Board adds a fifth option for the future library location after an information session. The board and architect discussed four shortlisted sites including near the curling rink, north of the Town building, east of Parkside Manor, and the old fire hall site. A decision to consider a west of Parkside Manor site was noted for further deliberation.

Taber approves walking trail projects with hoped late June finish

Taber council formalized construction of two walking trails on the south and west sides of the golf course and along 50th Street near Ken McDonald Memorial Sports Park. Local officials say the trails will improve safety for youth en route to events and provide scenic routes, with funding from municipal budget and contributions from Kiwanis Elks and a government program.
