Celebration of life for Merkle Ken Tony Merkle
Merkle Tony Tony Merkle who died January 19 2024 at 96 will have a Celebration of Life May 4 at the Tabor Community Centre. Born February 1 1928 in Sokolovac Yugoslavia he immigrated to Canada as a child, settled in Regina then Barnwell before Taber. He built a long life as a farmer taxi operator and community volunteer and was Taber Citizen of the Year in 1976 and inducted to the Taber and District Sports Hall of Fame in 2002. He donated blood many times and served 10 years with the volunteer fire department and 14 years with the ambulance service. He is remembered by his daughter Valerie Merkle Basque Herron and many family members as a devoted husband and father.
