Communities in Bloom seeks Taber residents to join a town wide greening effort. Volunteers will help plant, maintain, and beautify public spaces across Taber. The program aims to boost local pride and attract visitors through improved streetscapes.
The Taber Times reports Westview Estates will stay as planned after a unanimous town council vote against re zoning undeveloped land on 53rd Avenue. Residents argued smaller lots would lower property values and questioned the timing while opposing the re zoning.
Registered nurse Kate McPhail of Local 164 United Nurses of Alberta warns Taber Hospital’s long-term care unit will shut in 2010, replaced by Designated Assisted Living. She stresses LTC and DAL differ, with DAL lacking regular nursing care and risking higher costs and staff losses for Alberta’s aging population.
Taber corn lovers await the Taber Cornfest from August 27 to 29. Despite a late crop, the area’s famed sweet corn should still be available for visitors, maintaining the festival’s expectations.
