Horizon School Division sees small Dec 31 2012 surplus risk from raises

Horizon School Division board reviewed a December 31 2012 snapshot showing a 546 dollar net income, but chartered accountant Philip Johansen warned that ongoing teacher raises and added CPP and EI costs could erase the surplus by year end 2013. He noted a 1.1 to 1.2 percent hit without raises and a potential 2 percent rise would wipe out the gain.
