Power Rates Rise for Taber Area Residents in 2002
In Taber and rural Alberta, residents who haven’t signed a power contract for 2002 face higher bills despite a drop in overall power costs since 2001. The rise stems from how provincial caps on default rates affected rural customers after 2001 practices, with 2000 price surges not passed on in 2001. Police report a quiet Christmas period with few violations and no impaired driving charges from Christmas Eve to New Year’s.
