Second beet plant anticipated for southern Alberta

At the Alberta Sugar Beet Growers AGM Medicine Hat MP LaVar Payne announced a nearly 600000 investment with S2G BioChem to study beet based sustainable alternatives to petrochemicals. The project aims to develop bio glycol using beets, with a pilot plant already in Vancouver and a beta from China. The plant would be located in southern Alberta and benefit biodiesel glycerine waste, plastics and resins markets.
