The Stelmach government chose higher spending in health education and $20.1 billion for infrastructure over three years, raising the projected deficit to a record $4.7 billion. Departmental cuts totaled $1.3 billion, below the expected $2 billion target, with reinvestment in core areas and a planned six percent yearly funding rise for three years.
