Author Dorothy Pedersen profiles Dennis Reimer and other officers in Canadian Police Heroes Beyond the Call of Duty. The book, launched in Orangeville, recounts the 1999 Taber shooting where Reimer disarmed a gunman, saving lives and underscoring frontline bravery. In Taber provincial court on December 19, multiple defendants faced penalties. A 30 year old man was fined 150 dollars for mischief after kicking in a door. a 34 year old man received jail time and probation for failing to comply and assault. Edwin Olser was fined 150 dollars for mischief plus 100 dollars for failing to appear, with restitution of 901 dollars. Perry Lakebow faced 200 dollars for failing to comply with probation, while Jonathan Maxwell received 45 days, with 38 days already served, for three counts of failing to undertake compliance. No victim fines were imposed in some cases.
