Taber Chamber honors Citizen of the Year Roy Reti

Roy Reti named Citizen of the Year and Hostess Frito Lay honored with Spirit of Taber by the Taber and District Chamber of Commerce. Awards banquet set for January 18 2008 at the Heritage Inn with tickets $35 plus GST. Chin Ridge Seeds and Peters Home Harmony Centre also named Small Business of the Year and Customer Service Award recipient during Small Business Week.

Trailside Farms tops Taber beet list with 33.09 t per acre

Bernie and Marianne Sekura of Trailside Farms Ltd. led the Rogers Sugar Taber East West 2007 Top 10 with 33.09 adjusted tonnes per acre on 187.5 acres. Hail on Aug 10 and 31 spared their fields while Kleinian Farms suffered heavy defoliation, but Sekura credited early seeding and weather for the record yield. The complete top 10 includes James, Lauwen, HBV Valco, Petersons, Veres, Veenstra, and Rabusic.
