Three deer killed on Highway 36 near Taber

Last week three deer were struck and killed along Highway 36 north of Taber between Taber and Vauxhall. Insp Graham Abela of Taber Police Service warns drivers to be alert on the stretch between 64th and 80th Avenues where deer gather east of the cemetery and Ken McDonald Park.

Town of Taber faces tough 2004 budget choices

The 2004 Taber budget requires a $1.3 million reduction to balance as council reviews a $4.398 million capital plan with $2.759 million in reserves. Municipal services face cuts and possible tax increases to fund water sewer upgrades downtown revitalization road projects and other infrastructure needs.

Safe Haven Expands Services and Operating Hours

Safe Haven now runs 24 7 operations since Oct 15 and adds information sessions. Four women and two children have stayed overnight with staff noting a warmer, safer, home like environment. The shelter partners with a Taber taxi company to provide free rides for residents.
