Submissions Opened For St Mary River Canal Break Damage
The St Marys River Irrigation District invites submissions for compensation after the Aug 2 main canal break south of Purple Springs disrupted about 50 000 acres of irrigation. About 10 to 12 claims already arrived from farmers between Horsefly and Forty Mile reservoirs.

Fireworks Display Set for Cornfest at Taber Golf Course
The Cornfest fireworks show will be launched from Taber Golf Course by the Fireworks Spectacular provider. Test shots in July confirmed visibility from Confederation Park and organizers expect quality on par with last year. The show starts this Saturday at 10 p.m.

New fall winter learning calendars by Taber learning group
The Taber and District Community Adult Learning Association releases a fall winter calendar with 95 courses, 29 new ones and 36 free for the public. Technology courses expand beyond computers into digital video and MP3 topics, while youth offerings include colours for teens and a skateboarding demo. Local experts helped shape new classes, such as meteorology basics taught by Dr. Matthew Letts, and belly dancing sees a level two class due to demand.
