Anniversary marks tragedy in Taber farm worker case
On Aug 20 1999 farmworker Terry Rash was stabbed to death by his employer Charles Beauchamp near Taber Alberta. The event spurred Eric Musekamp president of the Farmworkers Union of Alberta to push for OHS protections for farm workers and to promote Alberta Farm Worker's Day observed since 2005 with a food drive and awareness efforts. Musekamp cites BC regulations reducing injuries by 45 percent and calls for Alberta to follow suit amid ongoing government reviews and pressure from farm workers and media.
