CWB chair credits 2009-10 crop year with September boost

Allan Oberg head of the Canadian Wheat Board says the 2009-10 crop year ended strong due to an exceptional September across the Prairies. Exports of wheat durum and barley reached a decade high, with 100 percent wheat acceptance and a new WeatherFarm weather centre launching in December.

Taber Police Involved In High Speed Chase

Richard John Dewar 45 was arrested in Taber after a pursuit linked to an assault on a Lethbridge officer. Police pursued in Taber after a traffic stop in Lethbridge with a suspended license, later abandoning the car and failing to locate the suspect. Dewar faces charges including assaulting a peace officer, flight, obstructing, disqualified driving and dangerous driving.

Land-use advisory delay for SSRAC extends to December

The South Saskatchewan Regional Advisory Council delays its land-use advice until December as it tackles deep, intensive work on integrating growth, conservation, and competing land uses in southern Alberta. Local rep Greg Sekura says progress is strong and finalized steps depend mainly on language and formalities.
