A brief but intense storm hit south of Reston on Tuesday August 27. The storm produced golf ball sized hail and minimal rainfall, leaving scattered hailstones behind.
The Holmfield Community Church fundraising weekend drew strong donations. The Bobby Curtola concert raised $6,000, the production event $1,100, Sunday service offerings surpassed $400, and the flea market brought in over $90.
Mallory Wray, daughter of Randy and Marie, is selected to join the Manitoba Taffy women’s hardball team from Winnipeg. The 15 year old will travel to Vero Beach Florida for a national tournament, joining teammates aged 17 to 35.

A two day harness racing event at Holland drew 600 to 700 spectators with 56 horses across 16 races over the weekend.
RCMP continue to investigate a June theft of a statue from the bell tower at St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church in Rossburn. The statue was ripped from its base and has not been recovered.
After years of talks the highways department will proceed with resurfacing of 21 through Hamiota. Tenders will be issued this fall and work is set to begin in spring 2003 once conditions are favorable.

Belmont United Church notes the death of Janet Williamson with sympathy to Harvey Rick and Bob Williamson and families. Jean Williamson served as choir director and friend, with memories shared at a service. The bulletin lists church events, new ministers in Belmont and Glenboro, and a call for donations for a silent auction.
