Mariapolis Co op weighs a propane bottling plant at Baldur Branch amid a market survey. Baldur Branch manager Corey Dalman has mailed forms to area residents and invites responses in person or by return to assess potential sales and support for the installation.
In August 1989 the provincial and federal governments launched a Soil and Water Conservation Accord with 58 million dollars earmarked to 1993. In Argyle municipality a local group formed the Argyle Farm Progress Association Inc in December 1989 to access funding for reduced tillage, shelterbelts, gully stabilization, and water control. The eight-member board includes President Jack Bolack and Treasurer Walt Parsonage. Membership costs 20 dollars yearly, and Ducks Unlimited support plus a Noble Blade 3000 implement aid soil conservation during spring 1990. Contact local offices for details.
New legislation effective April 1 1950 mandates amber rotating beacon and two lamps on farm equipment and tractors when drawn or driven on highways during low light. Green amber and red lights must be correctly positioned. Over width transport requires a permit with no fee. Contact Transport Compliance Branch or Central Permits Office for details.

The Manitoba Legislature amended The Official Time Act in 1987 to start daylight saving on the first Sunday in April. This year the change happens at 2 am on Sunday April 1, when clocks move to 3 am. Uniform daylight saving continues province wide until the last Sunday in October.
