Manitoba Disability group hosts Souris Long-A-Thon fundraiser

The Manitoba League of Persons with Disabilities held a Long-A-Thon in Souris to raise funds for automatic door openers at the Souris and Glenwood Community Complex. A roast beef supper complemented the event, and organizers reported raised totals exceed $2,000.

Harness Horse Awards Kick Off the 2003 Racing Season

Manitoba harness racing awards honored top horses and owners at the February 22 banquet in Wawanesa. Winners include Jomars Julya owned by Greg Manning and Jody Earle with 2:04.2, The Crafters Touch at 2:08.3, and My Friend Filcka with 2:01. Crafty Mice and My Friend Flicka received Manitoba Bred and Woodbine notes. Awards were presented to Groom of the Year Sheila Anness and Horseperson of the Year trio Barry McNaughton, Roland Rey, and Murray Jackson. The 2003 season opens June 28 in Holland with weekend racing across Manitoba Great Western circuit culminating September 6–7 in Portage.
