Vandals destroyed planter plants and toppled flower boxes on town streets on June 25 26 harming Souris Beautification Committee work. Flower boxes were also damaged at Heritage Place apartments. RCMP are investigating.
The community of Birtle is raising 80000 to buy a new Zamboni ice flooding machine for local rink operations.
Twin Valley Co op Ltd announces an agreement to buy the assets of the former Southside Service site in Russell. The purchase will convert the site into a new Agro and Home Centre to serve the local community.
Demolition equipment removed the old U.G.G. Grain Elevator in Somerset after 74 years in the community. The First Edition of the Holland History Book sold for $2100 at the R. M. of Victoria Homecoming. The 2 inch edition went for $950 and the 3 inch edition for $850.
The newly renovated Carberry ball diamonds and backstops along with washrooms and concession buildings were officially opened on June 24.
A cougar was sighted in a farm field near the Riverside hill north of Minto, prompting safety alerts for residents and warnings to stay away from the area.
