New Year Events Bring Baldur Community Together
Baldur hosted multiple New Year activities. Booz m Buddies of Killarney provided music for a successful Memorial Hall dance. Community Development held a family skating party. On New Year’s Day the Curling Club ran a crib tournament, steak supper, and curling contest won by Rene and Melodie Martens. Marcel Fransoo won the draw to the button over Joy Johnson. About 70 steak suppers were served with free skating and hot dogs for children.

Warren Gosselin Wins Canada Millennium Scholarship
Warren Gosselin has been awarded a Canada Millennium Scholarship worth 3000 for the 1999 2000 academic year. The Canada Millennium Foundation notes the award is part of 75000 scholarships totaling more than 215 million dollars, funded by the Government of Canada to support youth education. The scholarship funds will be disbursed to the financial institution holding his student loan after full time enrollment is confirmed in February. Warr en is pursuing Computer Engineering at Red River Community College.

Westman Parkland Lions Telethon seeks local performers for 2000 airing

Killarney RCMP Conduct Checkstops December 16 22
The RCMP conducted multiple checkstops in the Killarney area from December 16 to 22. Reports include thefts of a tire and gasoline, minor alcohol charges, a missing wallet believed taken in Ninette, a missing fishing shack later recovered, stolen batteries near Rock Lake, and youths throwing snow at vehicles. Police urge vigilance and valid licenses and registrations.
