Mark Bahuaud of Somerset to demolish the Souris Arena and receive salvageable materials as payment. The Roblin Health Centre now has two doctors after Dr Dan Kilian left for Hanna Alberta. a third doctor is expected to join this fall.
The village of Manitou releases a large history titled In Rhythm With Our Roots spanning nearly 900 pages. In Minnedosa a Classic Rock Festival drew over 20 000 attendees during the August long weekend.
Six new homes are under construction in Deloraine this summer as builders advance residential development. The project increases housing stock and reflects ongoing growth in the town.
A new interpretive centre is planned to be built at Whitewater Lake, signaling a regional enhancement of public educational space and recreation. The project aims to provide exhibits, programs, and facilities for visitors and students.
R W J Scott of Hilton Hitch in Canada plans a horse hotel along the TransCanada Highway near Carberry. The facility would unload livestock every 36 hours under current rules and host horse shows and livestock sales.
The Lac du Bonnet Chamber of Commerce asks if a curfew for area youth could curb months of town vandalism. Further discussions are planned.
The town marked a century of harness racing on August 16 and 17 with track records falling as Shyla Flirt Toby and Smart Crack posted 2:00.3 and 1:59.4 on a half mile track. A brief history by Jack McKibbon highlighted early ice races on Souris River in 1897 and the evolution of local racing bodies over decades, naming pioneer drivers such as Danc McAdam the Mooneys Hal Rogers John Moore Buck Jackson Jim Dunlop Stanley Jackson Len Angus and the Payne Brothers.

Boys baseball coach Bob Cortibear. provincials June 14 at Winkler. Middle Years Band from Wawanesa performed June 12. Ray LeNeal retirement party June 25. attendees Tanya Rigaux and Jenny Parsonage. August 28 start full day. Josten pictures Sept 12. Kindergarten enrollment up 40 percent. start later and end earlier. No word on liquor license for Grad Day. float in parade June 21 97 and a home draw fundraiser proposed. Community Development seeks a representative to sit on the round table. executive attendance encouraged. Next meeting Sept 10 1997 at 7 pm. Rox-Anne Gillies moved to adjourn.
