Bank closures hit Whitemouth and nearby towns
The Whitemouth Royal Bank will close September 19 after 77 years, costing four jobs in a town of 300. The Royal Bank leaves Binscarth at the start of September while Newdale and Minsota also closed. A health survey mail-out to Roblin residents prompted junk-mail complaints, with locals asked to pick up the survey at the Health Centre. The Treherne Kinsmen rent an electric scooter from Medi-Chair for Jim Archer at 150 dollars per month. Pilot Mound and Crystal City will host the Gathering of Nations on July 18 and 19 next year. Pembina Valley Vet Clinic opens a new addition costing 91,500 dollars, adding a small animal clinic and reception area funded under Infrastructure.

Elite win Belmont Stakes in new team debut
The Belmont Stakes hosted by the Belmont Business Development Committee drew 10 teams on Belmont's main street. The Elite, in their first year, captured first place in the stakes and in the Go-Cant races with a time of 11:30, beating Craft Masters by 22 seconds as spectators enjoyed parimutuel betting, events, and town memorabilia sales.
