The Sheil River R. M. Council approves a resolution prohibiting the use of earthen lagoons to store livestock waste within the municipality, signaling a move to regulate farm waste management.
Yukie Kondo a 26 year old from Kashiwazaki Japan teaches Japanese language and culture to Rossburn Elementary students for four months as part of the International Internship Program. She began her year long Canadian journey in Chilliwack British Columbia before arriving in Rossburn.
On March 26 the MacGregor Locust Store was broken into when a vehicle smashed the front door. Inside the robbers took a large quantity of liquor and caused extensive damage to the store.
Loni White a 17 year old grade 12 student from MacGregor has been chosen Miss Teen Winnipeg 2002. She gains eligibility to compete in the Miss Teen Canada Pageant in Toronto starting August 24 for ten days.
The new Hartney hockey arena under construction receives a grant of 98500 from the National Hockey League Players Association. Community fundraising reached 921000 toward the project to date.
Senior 1 to 4 students prepare for work placements on April 11 and 12 visiting sites from Brandon to Winnipeg. Seven Baldur School pupils, ages 13 to 16, join the School Achievement Indicators Program writing assessments. Belmont hosts another successful Coffee House drawing crowds from Brandon to Winnipeg. Twenty eight acts across twelve items performed in an all day program ending with a beef supper served by Belmont Volunteer Fire Fighters.

Emily Johnson and Joyce Parsonage returned home from a winter in Arizona. Sharon Matte of Winnipeg spent the weekend with Pat Dearsley. Wayne and Barb Bolack with Grant and Doris Heaver enjoyed a few days at the World Curling in Bismark.
