The Community Club in Chetwynd urged civic organizations to coordinate activities through bi monthly club meetings. The motion, carried at a well attended regular meeting, left scheduling to entertainment committees and seeks joint review of civil projects via bimonthly gatherings. Representatives from other groups are urged to attend to iron out common problems.
The Chetwynd Volunteer Fire Department organizes a Sunday meeting on March 1 at 2 30 PM. Fire Chief Bill Foster of Dawson Creek will discuss organizing the department and firefighting techniques.
A public meeting will be held on Tuesday April 12 to select and revise the board of directors for the cemetery. The session aims to ensure a three member board registered under the provincial authorities and to plan for public attendance at the meeting in the community hall.
The seizure on the grounds is tied to a government order to arrange finance and was framed as an improvement project. It involves the Chamber and a Bid government body, with maintenance of the camp to be conducted by the Bid government. The suspension will delay the issues until further action.
Civil Defense Coordinator Murray Stevens of Dawson Creek asks the Chetwynd Chamber of Commerce for a meeting date to address the chamber. He also suggests a general community meeting and notes civil defense could aid in obtaining volunteer fire department equipment in the future.
Hypro officers Jo Olsen and Stu Brunell from the B C Power Commission met in Chetwynd with Peace River Forest Industries and three Chamber of Commerce members. Victoria supervisor Jim Coomes accompanied the visitors as the rate discussion proceeded and a rate revision was signaled to be implemented soon.
Agriculture district agronomist Jim Halli shared horticultural guidance amid plans for a Helwynd fall Agricultural Fair. He outlined how to arrange entries for judgment and discussed methods for presenting flowers and other displays at the event.
