Fire department group forms to push for volunteers
A Thursday meeting of the PT. Meer femeeting group aimed to form a volunteer fire department for the area. Representatives from Pacific Great Eastern Railway, Canadian Legion, Department of Highways, Community Club, and the Chetwynd Chamber of Commerce discussed funds and equipment, planning a public meeting to build support for the Aster hart project. The donated fire truck from the Pesacs River Forest Industries nears completion with only freez chemicals pump shaft and hose remaining to be installed. TELEPHONES DEAD-Telephone service to the east end was down for 24 hours after a bulldozer cleared timber north of the Highway Camp. eighteen telephones were affected including Pacific Great Eastern Railway and North West Telephone Co. lines. Raymond Meyer and Districts manager Raymond Jinkerson repaired the lines. trunk lines remained intact.
