Portable classroom to stay at old Windrem site this winter
Area representatives report no move for the Windrem portable classroom this winter due to insufficient existing natural gas connections for the extra load. Windrem School has eight classes on site with thirteen grade one, six grade two, and nine grade three students. one class remains at the old site. The School Board renewed the lease for teacherages and one classroom on site. A October 26 area meeting included a public resolution that suggested moving the portable classroom to Windrem before year start if new Windrem classrooms are occupied, with the term suggested rather than instructed.

Chetwynd Recreation Commission Seeks Grant Funds
The new Chetwynd Recreation Commission filed with the B C government initial grant papers to support recreation in Chetwynd. A proposed budget was tendered. Five representatives remain to be appointed from interested organizations. Keith Arnold Smith, Don Embree, Norm Stirling, Irene McClarty, and Yvonne Eldon represent the groups. Ice rink operations will be transferred from the Little Prairie Community Club to the Recreation Commission.

Power projects loom in Peace River region plans
W C Mainwaring announced in Vancouver that a 600,000 dollar hydroelectric development near Hudson's Hope will go ahead with 17 of 19 directors approving. The plan includes securing Public Utilities Commission approval in early 1968, selling all power in British Columbia, and supplying 300 megawatts by 1968 to meet feasibility. Also noted are the Fort St John to Kitimat oil pipeline, a 150 million dollar project, oil transport from Fort Nelson to Fort St John and Dawson Creek refineries, a 250 mile 30 inch natural gas line from Fort Nelson to Pine Valley, and possible West Coast gas line loop with Fort St John Lumber merger talks in Calgary.
