RCMP move to open Chetwynd detachment and service changes

The RCMP plans to station an officer in Chetwynd, with quarters built north of the Chetwynd Theatre and arrival expected August 15. The existing RCMP building will include an office residence and cells, plus extra rental space. Northern Interior Lumbermen Plan Grading Course

The Northern Interior Lumberman's Association arranged a grading inspectors course led by Red Henderson to begin August 15 at Community Hall. The four week program runs three evenings weekly with two to two and a half hours per session and ends with written and practical exams. It is free for association mill employees. A separate incident saw a gasoline tanker leak along a road near Hart Highway, prompting fire crews to prevent fuel from reaching Centurion Creek and Pine River before tanker removal.
