Death of Roy Haydon in bridge cage accident near Wauchope
Roy Bernard Haydon a Campbelltown contractor died after he fell from a suspended cage while constructing a bridge over a river at Long Flat near Wauchope The cage snapped and he plunged into the bed of the river His supervisor Hepworth escaped with scratches The accident occurred in view of Haydon's wife and occurred while he was building a bridge for the Main Roads Board He left a wife Florence and two children Norman and Lorna His body was returned to Campbelltown for burial at St Johns cemetery with a large funeral attended by family friends and townspeople
