The Head Office of the State Labor Exchanges announces a call up for five carpenters for work on the Water and Sewerage Board at the Town Hall Campbelltown. The call is set for Friday morning the 17th inst at 10 o'clock.
The council discussed building tennis courts with a 160 by 110 ft enclosure, fencing, shelter, and showers. A lease offer of £10 per year for the club was approved with a £100 loan, while concerns about finances and repayment were raised by Aldermen.
At the monthly meeting Aldermen discussed the Sackville Street electrical extension funds, approved two garages and two cottages worth £265, and reviewed arrears of rates. They considered a loan for rebuilding council chambers, holiday notices, and a donation to the RSPCA, while noting cattle nuisance on Central Square and requests for road works and land transfers.
The Ingleburn Tennis Club seeks a £100 loan for three courts in the park with two for club use and the third public rental. Alderman Smith links support to a Sunday tennis provision while other members weigh the Sunday sport policy and park asset benefits.
Miss Violet Hawes aged twenty, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Henry Hawes of Minto, died at Milby Private Hospital after an apendicitis and surgery, following a brief recovery. She worked in the Binding Department at John Sands Limited and was buried in St Peters Church of England cemetery after a service at Farish Church. Revs J F Rofe officiated. The town and many friends sent wreaths and condolences to the Hawes family. Mr C A Nicol supervised funeral arrangements.
