Campbelltown Agricultural Society holds its 28th annual show with 280 horses in the ring and large entries in jumping trotting cattle dogs and flower sections. The official opening is at noon Saturday by Mr A A Lysaght MLA followed by a Grand Parade at 2 p.m. Attendance urged for peak ring events.
A detailed program lists horse classes and times from Blood Stallion to Pony Hunt, with events for mares foals harness and saddle divisions. Special prizes include Marcus Clark & Co. and J. H. Shiel, with a luncheon interval and a general parade at Campbelltown Show. The notes praise the ground as improved and dust-free with a cinder track.
At Tuesday night’s Campbell Town council meeting a ratepayer asked who would fund a civic reception for Governor Sir Dudley de Chair during his April 20 visit. The ratepayers were implied to bear the cost, prompting Alderman G Kershler to suggest the council cover “a few pounds” itself if feasible.
Camden Show to run Thursday to Saturday with large entries in jumping and trotting. Premier to open the event with a broadcast speech across the show ground area as the committee installs a telephone amplifier for loud speakers.
Board of Health report to the Council notes a milk sample from a local vendor contained 2.3 percent added water. Councillor Als doubts the water was added but says a dairyman’s self milking and sending samples for analysis found added water. Vendor to be notified that future similar reports will trigger legal action.
After considering a letter from the Sec Campbelltown Boy Scouts about the governor's visit to open the Scouts New Hall, council decided to tender a civic reception at the Town Hall. A committee will be formed to arrange all details.
Jack Stoops of Campbelltown Waratah Club delivered a sensational performance at Elderslie last Saturday, taking nine wickets for ten runs. All nine batsmen were bowled by Stoops, shocking the crowd with his remarkable spell.

A Campbell Town Agricultural Bureau gathering featured R N Makin of the Department of Agriculture Expert discussing fodder seeds fertilisers and pasture improvement. Members enrolled new recruits. the bureau has doubled in a year and the annual meeting is set for 12 April. A request for Buddha Cat seed to be sourced from a Crookwell farmer was authorised.
