Campbelltown Council Schedules Meetings And Debates

The council opened at 8 30 p m June 19 with Mayor Marlow presiding. Ald Hazlett was absent while Works inspector Asher and Health Inspector Bayliss had been excused. The body debated recreation ground sites, a fruit stall on Queen Street, and school planning for Minto East. Meetings covered rates refunds, town planning, street works, and liquor issues on weekend train travel.

Aldermen Choose Committee Members in City Council Vote

The motion, seconded by Ald. Longhurst, passed with several dissents. Ald. Broughton was elected to the Works Committee with council congratulations, and Ald. Apperley was chosen for the Electricity Committee, after which the meeting adjourned at 10.45 p.m.

Campbelltown A H and L Society Holds Rainy Committee Meeting

President Sedgwick chaired the Campbelltown A H and L Society Committee meeting in wet conditions with poor attendance. H G Whiting resigned but was urged to reconsider as workers like him are scarce. Discussions covered finances, show dates for 1952, prizes, life member badges, and show grounds before adjourning after 11 40 p.m.

Accidental Timbering Injury Hits Appin Man

Mr Henry Budden of Appin suffered a broken thigh and several ribs when a fallen tree trunk slammed him after a power saw cut. Mrs Mary Thomas of Narellan is announced dead with interment at St Thomas Church Cemetery. Mrs Howes of Minto is wished sympathy.

Electricity Committee Report Adopts Vehicle and Power Measures

The June 19 report to Council from the local Electricity Committee chaired by Ald Lea recommends sharing maintenance of vehicles with local garages and, if possible, performing work at work sites to avoid disrupting water heating programs. It also proposes covering added costs from the Railways Department for off peak electricity to power heating, and increases council charges from 17 1951 to 1d per kwh. After-hours duties grant W Smith and W Wassall an on-call allowance of £2 weekly plus a £5 weekly telephone cost allowance.

Milk Zone Dairymen's Council Campbelltown Meeting Recap

The Campbelltown branch meeting at Town Hall elected J Clark president unopposed with T R Fitzgibbon and C Murray as vice presidents. F J Sedgewick re elected secretary. Discussions covered winter milk pricing, production balance, Appin milk lorry timing, and call for a can washer at the depot.
