Ingleburn NES Presents Play Night at School of Arts

At the Ingleburn School of Arts on June 8 the NES Auxiliary staged a play night. Three one act plays featured 17 local NES artists with additional performances by Miss King, Sgt. Brealey, Mr. Kennett and Mrs. Hodkin. Miss Bessie Mayes supplied scenery and Miss Betty Firth produced. Nett proceeds totaled £13 6s 6d.

Shire Engineer Joins Commonwealth Service

Wollondilly Shire engineer N G Thom entered Commonwealth Service for the Dept of the Interior on Monday. The shire council, led by President Dr E H K Downes, agreed to loan his services, with Thom to relinquish duties on Friday. The appointment is understood to last for the war duration. Thom had 16 years with the shire and resided in Camden.

Picton Milk Board meeting backs Sedgwick candidacy

At the Picton branch meeting in the School of Arts last week a resolution supported F Sedgwick for the producers' representative on the new Milk Board. A second resolution condemned Camden milk suppliers’ call to reappoint Nesbitt as chairman. W P Brookes chaired with good attendance.

Postman Jack Campion Retires After 46 Years of Delivery

Campbell town’s Jack Campion retires after 46 years delivering mail from Haymarket and Campbelltown post offices. A native of Campbell town, he spent 23 years with each office and is lauded for his faithful service and long career as he begins retirement.

Campbelltown Council Adopts War Time Measures and Repairs

Campbelltown Council met Tuesday with Aldermen present and Deputy Mayor presiding in Mayor Marlow’s absence. They discussed air raid shelter funding and trenching, street works on Convent Hill and Kentlyn Road, milk vendor licensing, and building permits for Wedderburn and Queen Street.

Camden Stock Sales Show Firm Market for Mixed Stock

Tuesday yardings included pigs calves and mixed cattle with strong demand for fat cattle and milkers while stores and young cattle rose in price. Prices ranged from porkers 1 15 6 to 4 0 6 and heavy calves up to 3 9 0 with dairy and springing stock also noted.

Prisoners of War Cattle Sale Raises Funds

The William Inglis & Son cattle sale raised £122 4s 9d for the Prisoners of War Day Appeal. Donations came from Mrs Faithfull Anderson 6s 5d Mrs F C Whitemann 1s and Mrs S Pippen 10d. The committee thanks Mr R Inglis for organizing the sale free of commission and notes £200 forwarded to the appeal.
