Obituary of Rev. Thos Verrier Alkin long-serving Campbelltown rector
Rev. Thos Verrier Alkin MA LCP FLS who led Campbelltown Church of England from 1876 to 1904 died at Whitefriars Cottage Lumsden Street North Sydney. Born in Kent he studied at Cambridge and taught at Tasmanian Grammar School. He served 54 years in ministry and was Rural Dean of Liverpool Camden and Wollongong. He leaves a widow three daughters and two sons. Funeral in St Peter's Campbelltown included botanical and scientific society representatives and the State Nurseries listed among attendees.

Campbelltown Arts Memorial Ball Ends With Joyful Children
The third annual Campbelltown School of Arts Memorial Hall ball closed last Thursday at the Town Hall. Many youngsters enjoyed music from Miss Cloke and helpers, with seven wearing costumes. Prizes went to Beatie Cummings, Maisie Kitching, Muriel Melville, Nora and Molly Devlin, Patrick Devlin, and Clifford Watson. Supper for 40 children preceded by dancing for adults, with late hours of merriment as the hall darkened.
