Council Meeting At Ingleburn Heat on Roads and Finances

Aldermen pack the May 16 session presided by the Mayor as they debate road conditions across the municipality. Vans of funds, a broken grader, and overbearing ministerial steps frame a grim maintenance outlook for 197 miles of roads.

Empire Day Celebrations Held at Public School

May 24 Empire Day events took place indoors at the Public School due to weather. Helen Younle chaired a program featuring bands songs plays displays by classes, a guest address by Mr. Hannaford, a radio play, and a pledge to God Save the King. Community council actions followed including road works tenders, lighting concerns, and rail gate operations.

Magistrate warns Pitt Street Hunters over unlawful shooting

Stipendiary Magistrate A J Paton addressed youths before the Petty Sessions on May 24 over discharging firearms trespass and destroying protected fauna in Wollondilly Shire. Fines ranged from two pounds ten shillings to fifty pounds with jail in default, many cases heard in Menangle and twelve in the Children's Court. Joseph H A Barton faced fines for negligent driving and drink driving with a June 28 adjournment for negligent driving.

Minto to Host Big Gymkhana and Sporting Events

A large gymkhana and various sporting events are planned at Minto on October 21. Community members are urged to keep the date free for a full day of activities and competitions.

Small Debts Court case over £16 5s installments agreed

The Wol londilly Shire Council sued F. Gorrie for £16 5s in a Small Debts Court. It was agreed the defendant would pay by installments of 10s weekly. The Club Hotel Campbelltown license transfer from Mrs. O Neill to Hugh Charles Morley, former Central Hotel Moss Vale licensee, highlighted by the Magistrate who urged meals and accommodation as required by law.

Attendance at the Baby Health Centre last week reached 654 with 29 on Thursday and 25 on Friday. Mr. Blake Pelly will address Campbelltown electors on Friday June 9 at RS.L. Hall. Public telephone to be considered after Kentlyn visit

After visits by Jeff Bate and Blake Pelly in Kentlyn a strong case was made for a public telephone. The Postmaster-General replied the office keeper left in 1948 and a centrally located replacement could not be found. The department said yearly earnings would be far below required, prompting Bate and Pelly to request a reconsideration.
