Aldermen approve a Labour Ministry offer to pay 37 Campbelltown residents on food relief for work, with pay scaled by hours and category. Workers will receive cards at the police station, start work per town instructions, and the council covers tools, compensation tax costs.
Thieves entered Bussell Bros store at Queen and Lithgow Street by cutting a hole in the roof and lowering a rope into the shop. Cigarettes and tobacco were stolen though the alarm system was bypassed. A separate theft saw a separator stolen from A G Payton’s Holly Sea property. Local council members urged stronger police night patrols to protect property.
The Wollondilly referendum counts show polling place tallies and a Yes majority of 4206. Alderman R. Alex Hazlett resigns from Ingleburn Council due to ill health. extraordinary election set for June 24 with nominations due June 14 by 5 PM.
The Campbelltown parish records mourn Cecila Hunter widow of Rev J Ralph Hunter who served St Peter’s from 1912 and Clara Francis North who lived all her life on Lindsay Street. Cecila died May 24 after a prayerful parish service and burial at St Peter's. Clara North died after a long illness, with funeral at St Peter's and burial in the same cemetery.
Town Clerks from Campbelltown and Ingleburn and Alderman Westbury met Councillor E S Shaw of the Metropolitan Water Board in Minto. He planned an up to date cost estimate for extending the 12 inch main via St Andrew's Road to Varroville and Redfern Road to Pembroke Road. The council defeated the motion to pursue the proposal citing local police efforts to curb burglaries and asserting the council should protect property.
