At the Camden Junior Farmers Field Day the District Council conducted a special calf raising competition due to impracticability of the usual awards. Judge Mr C. S. McIntosh judged on condition quality and practicality with results as announced.
At a post lunch Nepean Shire Council meeting two visitors discussed National Emergency work. Mr Potter warned of costly ARP duties while Dr Kelly urged swift, well organized action and offered hospital and firefighting resources. Dr. Scott resigned as Chief Warden and Dr. Kelly was appointed Chief Warden with Dr Skidmore as Deputy.
The Campbelltown Town Hall hosted a massive United Friendly Societies Christmas Tree event on Tuesday night. A committee of about thirty organized gifts worth 4 shillings each, plus 500 ice creams, 240 cordials, cakes and thousands of lollies funded by dances and picnics. Locum Santa Lou Frost led the charity celebration, delivering gifts to around 200 children and hosting a feast for about 300 adults in Campbell town’s history.
Camden Aldermen attended the council meeting with Mayor H. B. Kelloway as they considered a petition to upgrade the Nepean River pool at Chellaston Street. A works committee will visit the site with petitioners. The session also praised Mrs. Huthnance for charity collections and discussed sand provisions for emergency use and air raid shelter proposals.
